Madam Minister Part 10

At the accident scene

Kate got outside the shopping mall. Traffic was  heavy at fast speed, reckless, blaring horns, swearing at one another. She stood on the pavement for a long time, confused on what to do next. Clammy, sweaty, yet she was feeling cold.
…killed my husband... maimed my child?  How could I have done it! …when! … No, I did not. He was sick. I did everything to help him…but lost him. Then Chidi was born lame. It was not  my fault. Why does she mock me! …why!
She stepped out. A fast moving truck hit her. She flew off. And crashed on a pole. Then landed on the road. as the truck screeched to a halt.

                                         Preface

He was a handsome intelligent young man. He walked straight across the soft carpet to meet the Queen, his head held up, smiling. This was not his first time. It is the sixth time of meeting Her Majestic the Queen. The last time they met in Buckingham Palace was to inform Her Royal Majestic that he won the election and would need her consent. But today was different. Her Majestic had asked for his opinion on a matter of utmost important, on a matter, if not handled carefully will inflame the sub region. He had careful studied the report repeatedly, and each time this peculiar words keep coming back to his senses. ‘They are fantastically corrupt.’
“What... excuse me,” asked Her Majestic.
He knew the cameras were on him. He gave his best smiles, and whispered again into her ears, “They are fantastically corrupt, Your Majestic.”

It went viral on social Media. Ide was about switching off the TV and go back to work, when the news came. His heart sank. He became angry. His country was the most corrupt in world. Nothing anyone could do about it. No law could apprehend them. The thieves were ghosts. Why should he say something as bad as this to the Her Majestic, he deliberated. Then he went to the double window….
His phone rang.
Then he pushed down another button, linking both the Director
of Operations and a memory disc, and then picked up the call.
“Milè Agency,” he announced calmly.
“Ide, please... board the next available flight to Nigeria. See you at my private residence, Awolowo Lawns immediately. My PS will direct you. Call 09-111000.” Then the one-sided conversation ended….This was the call that began the hunt for the faceless ghosts. That brought Ide face to face with Mr. President, the cabals, AND HIS PAST.

Madam Minister: At the Sprite Shopping Mall (Part 9)

At the Sprite Shopping Mall Madam Minister   (Part Nine)
What happened to Kate at the shopping mall? Did she lose her life?

The taxi stopped by the gates. Kate alighted. And went into the premises. It was a big complex, housing stores, banks, restaurants, gym, and rest rooms.

She rushed into the shopping mall, a large room, five departments, stacked up with things. People were walking about, pushing their carts around. There was a long queue before the sales counter. She looked at their carts. Then sighed. They were half empty. The economy is flogging and biting everyone hard. Most people were loafing around, window shopping …where are they, she thought, moving toward the next-door restaurant.

Madam Minister-The man in Black Hat ( Part 8 )

Madam Minister (Part 8 )
The Man in Black Hat.
(Is Dr. Monteseri shadowing...trailing his wife?)
Kate ran off. She climbed the stairs hurriedly. And came to Ndi’s room. Whiffs of expensive perfumes hung in the air. Beddings were strewn about on the floor. She opened the large wardrobe. Ndi pajamas were dumped on the floor. There was a gap on the line where clothes were removed. She had dressed up quickly. Why the hurry, she thought. Then she saw heaps of hand bags. On top was a pocket-sized golden purse. She picked it up. And opened it. It was stuffed with foreign currencies, a miniature mirror and a yellow paper on which was a post in pink ink. Andrew, 5 Park Lane, East Estate.

Madam Minister: At Breakfast

Ndi, Kate, Isabel, Nene, and Dr. Soso Monteseri at Breakfast ( Part 7 )

The phone rang. She stretched, threw off the blankets, and grabbed it.
“How are you doing?”
“Still on bed. You woke me up.”
“Sorry, dear. I wanted to know you got home early.”
“Oh! Nice of you.”
“Seeing you today?”
She looked at the time on the dial.
“For good sake, Andrew. This is 7:20 a.m.”
“Oh! Good morning my royal highness.”
She laughed. Then said, “Tricky old fool.”
The UK diplomat laughed too.
“I better be,” he said.
